MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

This month we are spotlighting: Catalina!

Name: Catalina
steveperryfans.com Message Board Name: Mrs. Perry
Hometown: Santiago, Chile
Occupation: I think I was born to be a secretary. I love my job! I feel that I am really lucky because for 19 years I have enjoyed an excellent and safe work position, since lots of people can't achieve it. I am a very demanding secretary with myself and with those who are around me. I have had the privilege of working for one of the biggest cultural institutions belonging to the Education Department which include the museums, libraries and Archives from south to north of my country. Earlier I was working at the National Museum of Fine arts, National Museum of Natural History, National Library and at present I work at the National Archive. My bosses have always been the Directors of these.
Family: I have a big family. I live in a large house of three flats with my parents, my oldest sister and her daughter, my brother and his couple. However, I have to consider my son's family whom I visit frequently to see my only grandson ..... till now. My grandson is the light of my life.
Hobbies: My principal hobby is to listen to Journey/Steve Perry music. Slowly but surely I have bought a big part of his musical legacy. For two years I am studying very hard English language, inspired by Steve Perry, since I wanted to know everything about his career and his life. Uuufffff.....I have lots of folders with interviews and pics. I also have to confess that I am an Internet addict, but at the moment I do not have a lot of time. I like sports too, especially gymnastics, tennis, swimming. When I can, I try to go to the gym. At home I have a small one.
When did you buy your first computer? In May 2004. It is my first and only one till now.
Where is your current computer located? My computer is located in a corner of my living room. It called Steve's corner.

Been a fan how long? Strong and faithfully since 1999 when my sister lent me a tape, Greatest Hits. This one belonged to her boyfriend who was a Journey fan. I say strong and faithfully because the first time that I saw him on TV it was in a programme called Midnight Special, however I didn't forget his voice, his hair and his so original clothes style.
First time I heard Steve sing I felt: The first thing that I thought was: " What a beautiful voice this man has! ". Later I could see him many times. In 1978 the television in color had already come and I could appreciate each detail on him much better. It was a real delight! Everything on him was attractive and captivating, so every Sunday I was looking forward to see him.
Favorite CD: No doubt Trial by Fire. His voice sounds more manly and the romantic songs suit perfectly with him.
Have you seen Steve in concert? Of course, when I am playing my DVDs! Kidding aside. It would have been great if he had come to sing to my country. Here there are million Chileans who admire and value his musical legacy. In fact, our radio stations are always playing his music, both with Journey or in solitary.

If you could put one song in a time capsule for future generations what would it be and why?
No doubt again Faithfully. It is a great song with a great message. Life is a circus in which we all try to do our best role and do not realize that the maximum wish of each human being is to feel loved faithfully. How many times we have said ourselves, "I am lost without you"? I am sure that many songs will be listened by generations.

Personal Comments: For many years Steve Perry has made sense to my life through his music and songs and he will go on doing it while I live. In fact to my apartment I call it " My little Perrydise " and I am grateful to him for having found wonderful and loyal friends at this site who I appreciate and love very much.

Thank You Catalina!

"If there was one thing I could say to the fans, it would be for them to protect their lives, protect their health, protect themselves from things and people who might want to take those things away from them. Then you can live, enjoy music and live your life to a much better degree, things that can hurt you, whether that's drugs, too much booze, or too much of anything. Just protect their lives because it's a precious gift that they've been given to be somewhere they've never had a chance to be before and to be here and to have an opportunity to see a lot of things and to try to do things with and for their families and themselves. It's just very important to protect themselves from thing that can hurt them. I just hate to see people get all screwed up. It sure changes your life when certain things happen to you...you've got to respect your life a little bit, it's a special privilege that people take too lightly, until it's gone or until it's damaged. If you damage yourself or hurt yourself, you just wish you could be back where you were when you thought you were unhappy."
