NEWS and INFORMATION

PENPALS! A few weeks ago we emailed all the people on our penpals list to ensure you still wanted to be on the list and that we had your correct details. Some of the emails "bounced". Please check for your name on our announcement and contact us urgently if you still want to participate. Those emails no longer valid will be removed from the list after March 10.

February 2008: We have been celebrating our site's 2nd anniversary and we held a competition to track down 2s which were hidden around the site. Finding all the 2s enabled the winners to form three song titles: Patiently, Escape and Anyway. Two lucky winners have now received their prizes, so well done to Kirk and Lynn!

February 2008: As part of our anniversary celebrations, we have added eight new articles to our Press Room. They are:
City Magazine, 1981
Entertainment Weekly, 1996
Circus Magazine, 1982
Entertainment Ave, 1994
Journey Force, 1992
Boston Herald, 1994
Cashbox, 1978
Rockline, 1984

February 2008: As another anniversary surprise, we launched the Raised On Radio Tourbook for your enjoyment.

Humanitarian Project: Having sent our check to the IFRC, we have decided to conclude our support for a
specific charity. We are grateful for the generosity of those who donated over the past year. We will be providing
a page of charity links so that you can choose where you direct your money for the future.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

This month we are spotlighting: Allyson!

Name: Allyson Trionfo

Hometown: Baltimore, Maryland.

Occupation: Homemaker.

Family: 2 kids and 5 cats.

Hobbies: Spending time with my kids, computer, shopping, reality t.v. (mtv, vh1 and "Big Brother" in the summer).

When did you buy your first computer? 2004. .

Where is your current computer located? Dining room.

Been a fan how long? Since I was 15 and I am now 44 and will be 45 on Jan. 17th, not far from Steve's b.d.!

First time I heard Steve sing I felt: I felt like he could take me to another place, like time stood still. When I get depressed I will pop in a cd of his and he takes me away and makes me forget my problems for awhile, I just listen to him when I'm in all kinds of moods.........happy, sad, restless...........who knows? My daughter loves his music also, she's 19 and I would love for her to one day see him in concert, I wish that for all of you who have never gotten the opportunity to see him in concert, maybe someday you will I hope!

Favorite CD: Wow that is a hard one to choose but probably Steve Perry's Greatest Hits because it has a multitude of songs from various CDs that I like. I always liked Raised On Radio, one of my faves also.

Have you seen Steve in concert? Yes, 5 times I was lucky enough to see him! I saw him back in '85 for the Raised On Radio tour, I waited outside after the show and as his tour bus rode past he actually waved to me, I will never forget that! I also saw his Strange Medicine tour and I waited out in the snow with some other people to try to meet him, well this pizza guy drives up to deliver pizza to the band and some other ladies and I tried to talk the pizza guy into letting us deliver the pizzas but it didn't work, lol!! We did get some of the band members autographs but not Steve's......... someday though! We did all see him ride past in a car, lol! I will tell you he puts on the best show ever and he sounds just as good in concert as he does on a CD.

If you could put one song in a time capsule for future generations what would it be and why? Another hard one, wow, Ummm..........probably it would have to be Don't Stop Believin', because it has so much recognition right now with it being on the Sopranos and being the White Sox theme song and I believe it was on the Hills. Don't Stop Believin' also is like one of the most downloaded mp3 songs also. My ultimately favorites though that I would put in a time capsule would have to be Girl Can't Help It, it holds many memories for me like the Raised On Radio tour. I do like I'll Be Alright Without You also...........okay I can't just pick one, it's Steve Perry, there's too many songs I like!!

Personal Comments: I do hope that to this day Steve is in good health and that he has much happiness in his life. I do hope and pray that he comes back to us with some more great music, there is just nothing like him or his voice! I do have a tribute page for him on MySpace and my URL is: myspace.com/this_is_my_escape, so if you have a MySpace come visit me!
Steve if you ever pass by this site, "The Gazette" just know this, we all love you and we want you to come back to us! The music world is not the same without you. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts on Steve, I love this site, it's the best!!!

Thank you, Allyson!

"I don't get middle of the night ideas. I'm a shower person; I hear things in the shower-I don't even have an echoey shower. There's just something about running water. Another place I get ideas is in cars. It must be the motion or something. I carry one of those small mini-cassette players, but I have yet to use it, because I don't have any desire to hum and groove into this thing. "
