NEWS and INFORMATION
Chat is back! We reopened Chat in an all-new chat room on October 23rd.
Registration is quick and simple. Moderated chats will take place each Tuesday at 7pm PT / 10pm ET. We plan to organise monthly themed chats on one
Saturday a month too - there will be more about those in future Gazettes, our site home page and in our
Message Center.
October 28: It's 30 years since Steve took to the stage with Journey for the first time in San Francisco. Thanks, Suki!
Reba: We're also hearing that Steve turned down a chance to duet with Reba McEntire on her new album Duets, during the time that
he was producing last year's CD reissues.
Telling the story on the Larry King Show, Larry asked Reba if she asked anyone to do a song with her who refused. She
said yes, Annie Lennox, and that Annie wrote a lovely e-mail back explaining she was too busy. Larry then said, "So, Annie Lennox,
that was it?" To which Reba said, "No, Stephen Perry said no, he was too busy as well."
Larry then asked if she would ever talk
to them again and she laughed and said "Of course!" - as they both returned her e-mail and were very nice about it and she
understands about being busy. But she hopes to work with them both in the future.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
This month we are spotlighting: Elena!
Name: Elena Hernande
Message Board Name: eperry07
Hometown: Phoenix, AZ
Occupation: Teacher
Family: Single, and I have a cat named Snowball. He's my baby. =)
Hobbies: Teaching, writing Poetry, reading, working out, and collecting memorabilia of Steve Perry, Journey, and Bon Jovi.
When did you buy your first computer? In 1998.
Where is your current computer located? Home.
Been a fan how long? Since the release of Raised on Radio. I was a Sophmore in High School (15-years-old). =)
First time I heard Steve sing I felt: Like I had died, and gone to Heaven.
Favorite CD: I love them all. But since I have to choose one, I would have to say
Raised on Radio since it was the
first one I purchased as a teen.
Have you seen Steve in concert? No, but would love to. My parents were strict and I never got to go to concerts while in
high school. WAAAH! =(
If you could put one song in a time capsule for future generations what
would it be and why? Don't Stop Believin' because there's so many people, teens, and children today who need to be inspired.
That though life may seem a difficult journey we must fulfill, nothing is impossible if they believe and have faith in themselves.
This song has helped me cope with my life's struggles and it's a positive message for others, as well. I love it!!!!
Personal Comments: I do pray that someday, not too far in the future, Steve plans a small tour for us fans who unfortunately never
had a chance to see him while touring with Journey, or on his own. He's an Angel in Disguise and an inspiration. I always wish him well
and good health. He's definitely missed. =( I love you Steve!!!!!
Thank You Elena!

"It was a very conscious decision on my part," Perry explained. "I think that the first thing that someone can get tired of in
a band is the vocals. If you don't try to change them a bit, that sound can get very tiring. I was anxious to try and use my
lower range more and on
Frontiers I've done just that. It's made my voice stronger than it was before. I can still reach the
high notes for when we perform the material from
Escape, but I have greater strength in my overall presentation."
