MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
This month we are spotlighting: seabeeyn!
Name: Christine P
Message Board Name: seabeeyn
Hometown: I hail from Chicago born and raised. Current residence is in Michigan but I am currently recalled to active duty and stationed in
California. So as of right now, I consider that I have 3 hometowns.
Occupation: Executive Assistant for Private Non-Profit Human Services Agency and Yeoman United States Navy.
Family: Yep, I have one...LOL..seriously my family is so large I can't even begin to go into that.
I personally am divorced and have a 22 year old son.
Hobbies: Listening to Journey of course, obsessing about Steve Perry, self improvement, bowling,
anything outdoors, snowmobiling, four wheeling, rowing,..really I like to do just about anything. I do
alot of volunteer work also and probably one of the biggest highlights was being able to be a volunteer for Superbowl 2006 in Detroit.
When did you buy your first computer? 1995. I'm on my 3rd desktop and second laptop. Not really too bad considering the
progression of technology.
Where is your current computer located? Right now my desktop is in storage and my laptop is here with me in the barracks on the base.
Steve Questions:
Been a fan how long? Since my first glimpse of them on Soundstage in 1978. If I hadn't been grounded (I was quite a rebel)
I may have never discovered Journey. I guess I should thank my mom for that grounding...LOL.
First time I heard Steve sing I felt: "Oh my gosh, who is this guy? What a voice and hot too". I was hooked from the first
moment. The next day I was buying
Infinity.
Favorite CD: I still think
Infinity is the best but that could be because I have such GREAT memories surrounding that one.
Each of them have their positives and each has a unique sound.
Have you seen Steve in concert? YES, YES, YES!!!!! My first concert was "The Loops Day In The Park" at Comiskey Park in Chicago
in 1979. It was raining all day (there were 5 bands/performers) and part of the concert was even held up temporarily because of the rain.
When Journey came on it stopped raining, the sky became clear, the clouds disappeared...another sign that they would be a Beacon in my life.
After that I saw them every year up until 1986. Sometimes twice. I never saw the
FTLOSM tour but I did go see Journey back in 1997
or 1998 without realizing that Steve wasn't with them. The concert was ok, but not the same.
If you could put one song in a time capsule for future generations what would it be and why?
hhmm...that is a great question. If I could put one song in a time capsule it would be........hhmmm......oh this is just too hard,
I can't pick just one. LOL
OK, after careful deliberation it would have to be
Ask the Lonely. I think this song gives people permission to feel down
and kind of hopeless but also provides guidance on how to get back on your feet. By saying "ask the lonely" to me says that anyone
can help because everyone has been lonely at one time or another and don't give up because I didn't and I'm here for you.
Personal Comments: I just remember enjoying Journey for a very long time and how important their music was to me. And that
VOICE, geez..still gives me goosebumps when I listen to him sing....and it's so funny now because I can put a memory of some sort with
just about every song. My son used to make fun of me because l refused to get rid of my vinyl. I finally broke down and bought CDs
but they aren't the same. I miss hearing the crackling and seeing the grooves from the needle from playing certain songs over and over
again. And I was in Hollywood in June 07 with my parents and refused to leave until I found the Journey star. It took us a few hours.
And last, thank you for providing a great place to relive those days and for providing an 'escape' from reality.
Thank You Christine!

Steve is also proud to have produced
Street Talk. "I really
think I'm capable of wearing several hats whether it be as a singer, songwriter,
performer or producer. You see, I had an idea of how I wanted this album to sound. So,
if I hadn't produced it myself, the end result probably would have been foreign to me.
It just wouldn't have sounded like what I heard in my head. It does now."
