JOURNEY'S
Making Changes!
l-r Steve Smith, Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Ross Valory
Find Out All That's New
And Get Your Personal Message From Steve Perry!
The last few months have been very hectic for this rock 'n roll band.
Journey decided to introduce their current live album called Captured to the fans
and to local deejays around the country all by themselves. So off went Steve Perry,
Neal Schon, Ross Valory and Steve Smith, each to another part of the country, on a very special mission indeed.
But unlike their fellow performers on the "Impossible Missions Force", their mission was neither
impossible nor secret -- this was one bit of good news that Journey wanted everyone to know about!
Wearing their Captured pins in their lapels, off they went to bring everyone their huge double-live LP.
Filled with two marvellous records, loads of colored pictures and a great big poster, Captured had a lot going for it!
When 16 caught up with Steve Perry on the afternoon of his visit to New York City - Steve toured the north-east United States,
and on this day, made an appearance on the Robert Klein Radio Show - he was overjoyed by the wonderful reception you
were giving the LP. Though he was off to another city the very next morning, Steve took time out to detail some of the the group's plans
and to write you a personal message!
First Steve wanted to clear up a rumor about his relationship to Joe Perry of the Joe Perry Project.
Although the two men have performed at the same concerts and have met each other briefly - Steve even jokingly introduced Joe as his
"brother" on stage - they are definitely not brothers. Said Steve, "My real family name is Perrera, not Perry."
Although Steve thinks the two men may share similar heritages, they have yet to explore their family trees.
Secondly, Steve wanted you to know that Gregg Rolie's departure from the group was a very friendly parting.
Gregg was a founding member of both Santana and Journey, and he simply tired of living on the road for the past fifteen years.
Gregg married his stewardess-girlfriend Laurie a few

months ago - yes, they met at an airport! - and decided to settle down and produce other groups for the time being.
His first venture will probably be to work with a hot new group 415.
Journey had a great big party for Gregg and Laurie - sort of a farewell-tribute - and all the band's business friends and family were invited.
Included in that list was Journey's former drummer, Aynsley Dunbar, who now drums for Grace Slick and the Jefferson Starship.
Although there are still some legalities to be worked out as a result of Aynsley's leaving the group, as individuals the guys are still good friends.
Last, but certainly not least, is Steve's personal note to you!
The band is back in the studio now, working on their LP for this summer, called Escape, and Steve wanted to drop you a line before he locked
himself away to record it. Don't forget to write back!
