JOURNEY Press Conference
An On-The-Spot Interview!
Time is tight when you're as busy as the guys in Journey, and it's even
harder to find time for interviews with the press. So recently, the guys arranged to have a press
conference in Hollywood, California. This way, they were able to reach everybody at the same time!
What did they have to say about their latest projects? Find out!
NOT only did the guys talk about Frontiers, their newest album, but Jon
talked about all his outside work - producing his wife, Tane's, first album. He's even appeared on
stage with her - at her concerts!
"NO, we're not breaking up!" explained Neal Schon. People wondered just that, too,
because of everyone's outside projects. "Outside projects just give us all a chance to utilize our
creativity even more - and in other areas," the guys claim.
FOUR out of five members isn't bad for a press conference. Drummer Steve Smith was
late in arriving to the conference because of family obligations. But as you can see, he did arrive!
EDITORS Kerry Laufer and Debbie Fee listened intensely to the guys so they wouldn't
miss a thing for you!
WHILE the group doesn't really have much time for separate interviews, they did
enjoy this press conference because it gave everyone a chance to see them at once, and they got to
say all they had to! An added plus was when they played the first side of their new album for the
press. It gave everyone a preview of the new LP. The guys admitted the album has a bit more rock and
fewer ballads, but that is what they wanted this time around!
OF course, Steve Perry was asked about his effort with singer / songwriter, Kenny Loggins, and their
"Don't Fight It" hit. He explained, "The concept came up when we two were in Santa Barbara,
California, vacationing."
STEVE proudly displays the plaque they received from California's Governor, George Deukmeijan.
"It's for all of the work and effort we put towards various charities," they explained. The
guys were really proud to have been awarded for their efforts.
