This was the first time that Journey visited Europe where they performed at a festival in Holland.
The first part of the tour saw Journey appearing with bands Montrose and Van Halen. Steve Smith was the drummer for Montrose at this time. Journey worked a range of bands including Ted Nugent, Foreigner and Pat Travers in the latter portion of the tour.
This leviathan Infinity Tour started out on February 10 in Davis, CA with a new Journey line-up comprising Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Ross Valory, Gregg Rolie and Aynsley Dunbar. The band performed several times per week through to the end of August, although officially the tour ended with a New Year's Eve concert in San Francisco.
